LARGE SCALE DISPLAY
PATTERN MAKING - MOLDING - CASTING AND CABINETRY.
This project involved the construction of three large scale locomotives.
Requirements included that all parts/patterns be fabricated from "scratch", molds of
all parts to be made and multiple parts cast from the molds.
Once all castings were complete and finished, they were assembled on laser cut acrylic chassis components.
The large side panels of each model were laser scribed, detailed and cut from acrylic sheet.
Shown here is one of the assembled units
and a finished, one piece "nose".

for comparison
Two of the models were for
exterior display only.
the third model had a full
interior with removable
roof sections for viewing.
Note the interior cab details,
visible through the windows.

Except for the wheels, patterns were fabricated for all of the components. Molds were made and the various parts cast and assembled.
Custom decals and markings
were produced in-house.
All models were mounted on furniture
grade oak display bases and pedestals.
Acrylic dust covers (not shown) were also provided.
